This is a quick and delicious honey walnut chicken recipe that’s perfect for a busy weeknight. It’s an Asian-inspired one-pan meal ready in just 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss chicken pieces with soy sauce and cornstarch.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
  3. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add walnuts to the skillet and toast for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, water, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
  6. Pour the sauce into the skillet with the walnuts and garlic. Bring to a simmer and cook for 1-2 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce.
  8. Serve immediately over cooked rice, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.

Notes

  • Make sure your chicken is cut into uniform pieces for even cooking.
  • Toast the walnuts carefully to prevent burning.
  • Adjust the amount of honey to your sweetness preference.
