Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped red onion
  • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup chopped hard-boiled eggs
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the layers: In a large, clear glass bowl (8-10 cup capacity), begin layering the ingredients.
  3. Place the chopped lettuce on the bottom layer.
  4. Add the broccoli florets as the second layer.
  5. Add the celery as the third layer.
  6. Add the red onion as the fourth layer.
  7. Add the thawed peas as the fifth layer.
  8. Add the shredded cheddar cheese as the sixth layer.
  9. Spread the prepared creamy dressing evenly over the cheese layer, sealing the vegetables underneath.
  10. Refrigerate the salad for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld.
  11. Just before serving, top the salad with the crumbled bacon and chopped hard-boiled eggs.

Notes

  • You can assemble all layers except the bacon and eggs up to 24 hours ahead of time. Keep covered in the refrigerator.
  • Use a glass bowl so you can see the distinct layers.
  • If you prefer, you can substitute shredded Swiss cheese for cheddar.
