- 2 medium apples (like Honeycrisp or Fuji)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Wash and core the apples. Do not peel them.
- Slice the apples very thinly, about 1/16 inch thick. A mandoline slicer works best for uniform thickness.
- In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together.
- Place the apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overlap them. Work in batches if necessary.
- Lightly sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the top layer of apples.
- Air fry at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 to 12 minutes.
- Flip the apple slices carefully. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture over the second side.
- Continue to air fry for another 5 to 10 minutes, checking frequently after the 5-minute mark.
- Remove the chips when they are dry and slightly browned at the edges. They will crisp up more as they cool.
- Let the chips cool completely on a wire rack before serving or storing.
Notes
- For the crispiest results, ensure your apple slices are uniform in thickness. Thicker slices will remain chewy.
- If the chips start to burn before they dry out, reduce the temperature by 10 degrees Fahrenheit for the remaining cook time.
- Store cooled apple chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
