Make exceptionally crispy chicken wings in your air fryer coated with a savory garlic and Parmesan mixture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings completely dry using paper towels. This step is crucial for crispiness.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the dry wings with baking powder, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.
  4. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not overlap. Work in batches if necessary.
  5. Air fry for 20 minutes.
  6. Flip the wings and increase the temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Cook for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and very crispy.
  7. While the wings finish cooking, combine the melted butter and grated Parmesan cheese in a large bowl.
  8. Transfer the hot, crispy wings immediately to the bowl with the butter and Parmesan mixture. Toss gently to coat.
  9. Sprinkle with dried parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Using baking powder helps dry out the skin surface, leading to a crunchier result.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; air circulation is necessary for crisping.
  • For extra garlic flavor, you can add 1/2 teaspoon of garlic salt to the initial dry rub.
