Cook tender, juicy chicken thighs with a crispy exterior in your air fryer using a simple garlic and Parmesan coating. This is a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs completely dry using paper towels. This helps the skin crisp.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Rub the spice mix evenly over the chicken thighs.
  3. Lightly brush the chicken thighs with olive oil.
  4. In a separate small bowl, mix the grated Parmesan cheese and minced garlic.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C) for 5 minutes.
  6. Place the chicken thighs skin-side up in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket.
  7. Air fry for 15 minutes at 380°F (195°C).
  8. Carefully flip the chicken thighs. Brush the tops lightly with any remaining olive oil if the skin looks dry.
  9. Sprinkle the Parmesan and garlic mixture evenly over the tops of the thighs.
  10. Return to the air fryer and cook for another 5 to 8 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is golden brown and crisp.
  11. Remove from the air fryer, garnish with fresh parsley, and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • To prevent sticking, spray the air fryer basket lightly with non-stick cooking spray before adding the chicken.
  • If you prefer boneless, skinless thighs, reduce the total cooking time by about 4 to 6 minutes.
  • For extra flavor, you can toss the cooked chicken with 1 teaspoon of melted butter after removing it from the air fryer.
