Cook thick-cut pork chops in the air fryer for a tender, juicy interior and a perfectly crisp exterior. This recipe works for both bone-in and boneless cuts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 thick-cut pork chops (about 1 inch thick, bone-in or boneless)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

  1. Pat the pork chops completely dry using paper towels. This step helps achieve a crisp crust.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and thyme.
  3. Lightly brush both sides of the pork chops with the oil.
  4. Sprinkle the seasoning mix evenly over all surfaces of the pork chops, pressing gently so the seasoning adheres.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit (195 degrees Celsius) for 5 minutes.
  6. Place the seasoned pork chops in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  7. Air fry for 10 minutes.
  8. Flip the pork chops carefully.
  9. Continue to air fry for another 4 to 7 minutes, depending on thickness, until the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit (63 degrees Celsius).
  10. Remove the pork chops from the air fryer and let them rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For thicker chops (over 1.25 inches), you may need to add 1-2 minutes to the total cook time.
  • Always use a meat thermometer to check for doneness at the thickest part of the chop.
  • If you prefer a slight crust, you can lightly spray the chops with cooking spray just before the final flip.
