Ingredients
Scale
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup granulated sugar (for batter)
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a donut pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
In a separate large bowl, whisk the 1/2 cup sugar, melted butter, egg, and milk until combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan wells, filling each about two-thirds full.
Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
While the donuts bake, mix the 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon together in a shallow dish.
Let the donuts cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before carefully transferring them to a wire rack.
While the donuts are still warm, dip both sides of each donut into the cinnamon sugar mixture, coating them well.
Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade baked donuts.
Notes
You can use any flavor of milk you prefer.
Ensure your baking powder is fresh for the best rise.
If you do not have a donut pan, you can carefully spoon the batter onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to create round mounds, though the shape will differ.
