Make tender, juicy pulled BBQ chicken using your slow cooker. This simple recipe requires minimal effort and is perfect for sandwiches or meal prep.

  • 3 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken into the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, chicken broth, brown sugar, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  4. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and easily shreds.
  5. Remove the chicken and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the sauce in the slow cooker.
  6. Stir well to coat the chicken completely with the sauce. Let it sit on the warm setting for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra smoky flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of liquid smoke to the sauce mixture.
  • Serve this pulled chicken on hamburger buns with coleslaw for a classic meal.
  • This recipe freezes well for future quick meals.
