Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, plus more for cooking
  • 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the sliced beef with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 tablespoon cornstarch. Set aside for 15 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, sesame oil, and 1 teaspoon cornstarch. Set aside.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add a little more oil to the skillet if needed. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
  5. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Pour the prepared sauce into the skillet with the broccoli. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens.
  7. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce.
  8. Serve immediately over cooked rice.

Notes

  • For extra tender beef, you can marinate it for at least 30 minutes or even overnight.
  • Adjust the sauce ingredients to your preference. Add a pinch of sugar for sweetness or a dash of red pepper flakes for heat.
  • Ensure your wok or skillet is hot before adding the ingredients for a good sear.
