Ingredients
Scale
4 (6 ounce) tuna steaks, 1-inch thick
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons blackening seasoning
1 large ripe avocado
1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 clove garlic, minced
Salt to taste
Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
Pat tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Rub each side with olive oil, then generously coat with blackening seasoning.
Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until smoking hot, about 5 minutes.
Place tuna steaks in the hot skillet. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side for rare, or longer for desired doneness.
While tuna cooks, prepare the avocado crema. In a food processor or blender, combine avocado, sour cream or Greek yogurt, lime juice, minced garlic, and salt. Blend until smooth and creamy.
Remove tuna from skillet and let rest for a few minutes.
Serve tuna steaks with a generous dollop of avocado crema. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
Notes
Adjust blackening seasoning to your spice preference.
Do not overcrowd the pan; cook tuna in batches if needed.
