Make these Caramel Pecan Sticky Buns for a wonderfully sweet and gooey breakfast treat. Kenji shares this recipe with love from our new kitchen in New York City.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14.25 ounces) refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pecan halves

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Stir in the brown sugar, honey, vanilla extract, and salt. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring constantly, for about 2 minutes until smooth. Do not boil.
  4. Pour half of the caramel mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch round cake pan.
  5. Arrange the pecan halves evenly over the caramel layer in the pan.
  6. Separate the biscuits. Cut each biscuit in half horizontally to create two thinner rounds.
  7. Place one biscuit half, cut-side down, on top of each pecan. You may need to overlap them slightly.
  8. Pour the remaining caramel mixture evenly over the biscuits.
  9. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Let the buns cool in the pan for only 5 minutes.
  11. Place a serving plate upside down over the cake pan. Carefully and quickly flip the pan and plate together. Lift the pan off the buns. If any pecans stick, gently replace them on top.

Notes

  • This recipe uses store-bought biscuit dough for ease.
  • Serve these buns warm immediately after flipping for the best gooey texture.
  • If you prefer a different nut, walnuts work well as a substitute for pecans.
