Make this incredibly easy Cherry Dump Cake. It requires minimal effort, no mixing bowl, and results in a warm, bubbly dessert similar to a cherry cobbler. This is the perfect quick dessert recipe for potlucks or holidays.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix (do not mix)
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional variation)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish. Spread it evenly across the bottom.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cherry layer. Do not stir or mix the layers.
  4. If using, sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly over the dry cake mix.
  5. Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the entire surface of the cake mix, aiming for even coverage.
  6. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbly around the edges.
  7. Let the Cherry Dump Cake cool slightly before serving warm. This simple cherry dessert is wonderful on its own or topped with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute the yellow cake mix with a white or butter cake mix.
  • If you want a slightly different fruit flavor, you can use pineapple or blueberry pie filling instead of cherry.
  • This recipe is a great crowd pleaser dessert for any gathering.
