  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, heat-treated
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • Optional: Melting chocolate for coating

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the milk and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the heat-treated flour and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Stir in the mini chocolate chips.
  6. Roll the cookie dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  7. Place the cookie dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Chill the truffles in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  9. Optional: Melt chocolate according to package directions and dip the chilled truffles. Let the chocolate set before serving.

Notes

  • To heat-treat flour: Spread flour on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes, or microwave on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds. Allow to cool completely.
  • You can store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • For a richer flavor, use good quality mini chocolate chips.
