Prepare this easy, make-ahead chocolate oatmeal the night before for a quick, decadent breakfast ready when you wake up.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the rolled oats, chia seeds, cocoa powder, maple syrup, milk, vanilla extract, and salt in a jar or container with a lid.
  2. Stir all ingredients well until the cocoa powder is fully mixed in and there are no dry clumps.
  3. Seal the container and place it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
  4. In the morning, stir the oats again. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash more milk until you reach your desired consistency.
  5. Eat cold directly from the refrigerator.

Notes

  • For a high-protein version, add 1 scoop of chocolate or vanilla protein powder before refrigerating.
  • Use dairy-free milk like almond or soy milk for a vegan option.
  • Top with fresh berries or a spoonful of peanut butter before serving.
