A comforting and classic tuna noodle casserole, perfect for a family meal. It combines tender egg noodles with savory tuna, a creamy sauce, and a cheesy topping for a truly satisfying dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (16 ounce) package egg noodles
  • 2 (6 ounce) cans tuna, drained and flaked
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: 1/2 cup crushed potato chips for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Cook the egg noodles according to package directions. Drain them well.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the drained tuna, cream of mushroom soup, milk, chopped onion, shredded cheddar cheese, black pepper, and salt. Stir until everything is well combined.
  4. Add the drained egg noodles to the tuna mixture and stir gently to coat the noodles.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. If desired, sprinkle crushed potato chips evenly over the top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the casserole is heated through and bubbly, and the topping is golden.
  8. Let it stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can use cream of celery soup instead of cream of mushroom soup.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like peas or corn to the casserole.
  • If you don’t have cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack or a cheddar-jack blend works well.
