Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground chicken
1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1 (9 ounce) bag Nacho Cheese flavored Doritos, lightly crushed
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, onion powder, garlic powder, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Stir in the cooked, shredded chicken and 1 cup of the cheddar cheese into the soup mixture.
Spread the chicken mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Bake for 20 minutes, or until the mixture is hot and bubbly.
Remove the dish from the oven. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese over the top.
Spread the lightly crushed Doritos evenly over the cheese layer.
Return the casserole to the oven and bake for another 5 to 7 minutes, or until the topping is heated through and the cheese is melted. Do not overbake, or the chips will become too soft.
Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
To keep the Dorito topping crunchy, crush the chips just before sprinkling them on top of the casserole.
For a spicier kick, use Spicy Nacho Cheese Doritos or add a dash of hot sauce to the filling mixture.
This makes a great game day casserole recipe that is potluck friendly.
