Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup eggnog
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup eggnog (for glaze)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold, cubed butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the 3/4 cup of eggnog and mix until just combined to form a soft dough.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead a few times until it comes together.
  6. Roll the dough into a 12×8 inch rectangle.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
  8. Spread this cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border along one edge.
  9. Starting from the long edge opposite the border, tightly roll up the dough. Pinch the seam to seal.
  10. Cut the roll into 12 equal slices.
  11. Arrange the slices, cut-side up, in the prepared baking pan.
  12. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  13. While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze: Whisk together the 1/4 cup eggnog and powdered sugar until smooth.
  14. Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool slightly before drizzling with the eggnog glaze.

Notes

  • Ensure your butter for the dough is very cold for the best texture.
  • Do not overmix the dough; it should be soft and slightly sticky.
  • Adjust the amount of cinnamon and sugar to your preference.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
