Make this rich and savory chicken bowtie pasta dish using a simple garlic butter sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 12 ounces bowtie pasta (farfalle)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Cook the bowtie pasta according to package directions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining. Set the pasta aside.
  2. Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the butter to the same skillet. Once melted, add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and let it simmer for 2 minutes, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream and Italian seasoning. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
  7. Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.
  8. Return the cooked chicken and the drained bowtie pasta to the skillet. Toss everything together until the pasta and chicken are fully coated in the garlic butter sauce.
  9. Stir in the fresh parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes with the garlic.
  • You can substitute chicken thighs for breasts if you prefer darker meat.
  • Use fresh garlic for the best flavor in the sauce.
