Grilled chicken wings are a healthier and flavorful alternative to fried wings. This recipe helps you grill crispy, juicy wings, perfect for game day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken wings, split at the joint, wing tips removed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Your favorite BBQ sauce or wing sauce for tossing

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. This helps them get crispy.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the wings with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Make sure all wings are evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F / 200°C). For best results, use a two-zone grilling method if possible, with one side hot and one side cooler.
  4. Place the seasoned wings directly on the hot side of the grill. Grill for 3-5 minutes per side, or until they have nice char marks.
  5. Move the wings to the cooler side of the grill (indirect heat). Close the lid and continue to grill for 20-30 minutes, turning occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the wings are cooked through and crispy.
  6. Remove wings from the grill and place them in a clean large bowl.
  7. Add your favorite BBQ sauce or wing sauce to the bowl and toss to coat the wings evenly.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your classic, smoky, and delicious grilled wings!

Notes

  • For extra crispy wings, you can lightly dust them with baking powder (about 1/2 tsp per pound) before seasoning.
  • Marinate wings for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours for more flavor.
  • Experiment with different rubs and sauces to find your favorite combination.
