Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound white fish fillets (such as cod, tilapia, or snapper)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, chopped cilantro, pickled red onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  4. Rub the spice mixture all over the fish fillets.
  5. Grill the fish for 4-6 minutes per side, or until cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  6. While the fish is grilling, prepare the avocado crema. In a blender or food processor, combine avocado, Greek yogurt, lime juice, and minced garlic. Blend until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Warm the corn tortillas on the grill or in a dry skillet for about 30 seconds per side.
  8. Flake the grilled fish into bite-sized pieces.
  9. Assemble the tacos by filling each tortilla with flaked fish.
  10. Top generously with avocado crema and your favorite optional toppings.

Notes

  • You can also bake the fish if you don’t have a grill. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes.
  • For a spicier crema, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce.
  • If you don’t have Greek yogurt, sour cream or mayonnaise can be used as a substitute.
