Create spooky and delicious Halloween “Mummy” Jalapeño Poppers for your next party. This easy recipe wraps spicy jalapeños in cheesy goodness and strips of dough to look like mummies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large jalapeño peppers, halved lengthwise and seeds removed
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped cooked bacon (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Small black olives or edible candy eyes (for mummy eyes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, cooked bacon (if using), garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until thoroughly combined.
  3. Spoon the cheese mixture evenly into the hollowed-out jalapeño halves.
  4. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Cut each triangle into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.
  5. Wrap the jalapeño halves with the dough strips to resemble mummy bandages, leaving a small opening for the “eyes.”
  6. Place the wrapped jalapeños on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Brush the dough with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crescent roll dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Remove from the oven and carefully press two small pieces of black olive or edible candy eyes into the opening to create the mummy’s eyes.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy your spooky Halloween snack!

Notes

  • For milder poppers, you can remove the membranes from the jalapeños as well as the seeds.
  • If you don’t have crescent roll dough, puff pastry can also be used.
  • Ensure the dough strips are thin enough to cook through without burning the jalapeños.
  • Candy eyes can be added after baking for a more defined look.
