Ingredients
Scale
2 ripe avocados
1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
1-2 serrano chilies, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1 (10 ounce) package corn tortillas
1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
To make the baked tortilla chips, cut the corn tortillas into wedges.
In a bowl, toss the tortilla wedges with olive oil and a pinch of salt until lightly coated.
Arrange the tortilla wedges in a single layer on a baking sheet.
Bake for 8-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp, flipping halfway through.
While the chips are baking, prepare the guacamole. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
Mash the avocado with a fork until it reaches your desired consistency.
Add the chopped red onion, serrano chilies, cilantro, lime juice, salt, and cumin to the mashed avocado.
Stir gently to combine all ingredients.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Serve the guacamole immediately with the baked tortilla chips.
Notes
For a milder guacamole, remove all seeds and membranes from the serrano chilies.
If you prefer a smoother guacamole, you can mash the avocados with a potato masher or use a food processor.
For a different flavor profile, you can add a pinch of garlic powder or a dash of hot sauce to the guacamole.
You can also bake the tortilla chips at 350°F (175°C) for a slightly crispier texture, but watch them closely to prevent burning.
