Prepare moist and flaky salmon fillets coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic glaze. This recipe is fast, flavorful, and perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (6 oz) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried ginger
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water (slurry)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place them on the prepared baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, and dried ginger until combined.
  4. Pour half of the honey garlic sauce evenly over the salmon fillets. Reserve the remaining half for basting later.
  5. Bake the salmon for 10 minutes.
  6. While the salmon bakes, return the reserved sauce to the small bowl. Whisk in the cornstarch slurry and microwave for 15-20 seconds until slightly thickened. Stir in the fresh lemon juice.
  7. Remove the salmon from the oven. Brush the thickened glaze over the fillets.
  8. Return the salmon to the oven and bake for another 5 to 8 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  9. Serve immediately with your choice of side dish.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle sesame seeds or chopped green onions over the salmon just before serving.
  • If you prefer a crispier top, switch the oven to broil for the last 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  • This recipe works well for sheet pan meals; add asparagus or broccoli florets to the pan during the last 15 minutes of cooking.
