Ingredients
Scale
4 (6 ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
1/4 cup honey
3 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons minced fresh garlic
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, ginger (if using), pepper, and salt to create the glaze.
Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. This helps the glaze stick and promotes better texture.
Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Brush half of the honey garlic glaze evenly over the top of each fillet.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). For thicker fillets, start checking at 12 minutes.
While the salmon bakes, you can prepare the remaining glaze if you wish to use it as a finishing sauce.
Remove the salmon from the oven. Drizzle the remaining glaze (or fresh lemon juice) over the hot fillets.
Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
For pan-searing: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the salmon, skin-side down if applicable, for 4 minutes. Flip, brush with half the glaze, and cook for 2-3 minutes. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven for a final 3-5 minutes to finish cooking through.
To substitute honey, use maple syrup for a similar sweetness.
For a tangier sauce, add 1 teaspoon of rice vinegar to the glaze mixture.
Good side dish pairings include steamed asparagus, roasted broccoli, or simple white rice.
