Make fun Hot Chocolate Bombs that reveal a warm, gooey surprise when hot milk is poured over them. Watch the chocolate sphere melt and release marshmallows and cocoa powder for a delightful holiday treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 oz Semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup Hot milk
  • Hot Chocolate Mix, as desired
  • Mini marshmallows, as desired
  • Silicone sphere molds

Instructions

  1. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate using a double boiler or in the microwave in short intervals, stirring until smooth.
  2. Brush a thin, even layer of melted chocolate inside each half of the silicone sphere molds.
  3. Chill the molds in the refrigerator until the chocolate is firm, about 10 minutes.
  4. Apply a second layer of melted chocolate to the inside of the molds for a stronger shell. Chill again until firm.
  5. Gently remove the hardened chocolate shells from the molds.
  6. Fill half of the chocolate shells with a spoonful of hot chocolate mix and a few mini marshmallows.
  7. Warm a small plate slightly. Take an empty chocolate shell half and gently press its rim onto the warm plate for a few seconds to slightly melt the edge.
  8. Quickly press the melted rim onto the rim of a filled shell half to seal them together, forming a complete sphere.
  9. Repeat the sealing process for all bombs.
  10. To serve, place a bomb in a mug and pour one cup of hot milk over it. Watch it melt! Stir and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use good quality chocolate for the best melting experience.
  • Work quickly when sealing the two halves together.
  • You can decorate the outside of the finished bombs with drizzles of white chocolate or sprinkles.
