A simple recipe for making refreshing iced green tea flavored with sweet peaches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 green tea bags (or 2 tablespoons loose leaf green tea)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen peach slices
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water (for syrup)
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: Lemon slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the peach simple syrup: Combine the peach slices, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and cook for 10 minutes, lightly mashing the peaches. Remove from heat and let steep for 20 minutes. Strain the syrup, pressing the solids to extract liquid. Discard solids.
  2. Brew the tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat and steep the green tea bags for 3 to 4 minutes. Do not over-steep to avoid bitterness. Remove tea bags.
  3. Combine: While the tea is still warm, stir in the prepared peach simple syrup to taste. Start with half the syrup and add more if you prefer it sweeter.
  4. Chill: Allow the tea mixture to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until completely cold.
  5. Serve: Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the chilled peach green tea over the ice. Garnish with a lemon slice if desired.

Notes

  • For a stronger peach flavor, blend half of the steeped peach solids into the syrup before straining.
  • If you use canned peaches, drain them well and reduce the added sugar in the syrup recipe.
  • Use filtered water for the best tea flavor.
