You must try this Classic Marry Me Chicken. It features tender chicken breasts in a rich, creamy sun-dried tomato and Parmesan sauce. This recipe delivers impressive, restaurant-quality flavor and is quick enough for a busy weeknight or a special date night.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, drained and chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  2. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the chicken breasts for 5 to 7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F or 74°C). Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let it burn.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and use a wooden spoon to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for 1 minute.
  6. Stir in the chopped sun-dried tomatoes and heavy cream. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  8. Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet. Spoon the sauce over the chicken.
  9. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes to heat the chicken through and allow it to absorb the sauce flavors.
  10. Garnish with fresh chopped basil before serving. Serve this creamy chicken dinner idea over pasta or rice.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes.
  • If you want to make Marry Me Chicken Pasta, cook 8 ounces of your favorite pasta separately and toss it directly into the finished sauce before adding the chicken back in.
  • This dish pairs well with crusty bread to soak up the garlic cream sauce.
