Make the rich, creamy, garlic-Parmesan Alfredo sauce you love from Olive Garden right in your own kitchen. This easy recipe delivers restaurant quality flavor in just 20 minutes, perfect for pasta or dipping breadsticks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Do not let the butter brown.
  2. Whisk in the heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring often. Reduce the heat to low.
  3. Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese, a handful at a time, until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  4. Continue to cook on low for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly. Do not boil the sauce once the cheese is added.
  5. Remove the sauce from the heat immediately. Serve hot over cooked fettuccine or use as a dip for your favorite breadsticks.

Notes

  • For the best texture, use freshly grated Parmesan cheese instead of pre-shredded cheese.
  • If the sauce becomes too thick upon standing, whisk in a tablespoon of milk or reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.
  • This sauce pairs wonderfully with grilled chicken or shrimp for a complete meal.
