This one-pot creamy ground beef pasta recipe delivers a comforting, family-friendly meal with minimal cleanup. It features a savory ground beef and tomato sauce blended with pasta, all cooked together in a single pot for ease and convenience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 ounces dried pasta (such as penne or rotini)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  3. Pour in crushed tomatoes and beef broth. Stir in Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Add the dried pasta to the pot, making sure it is mostly submerged in the liquid. Cover the pot, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the pasta is al dente and most of the liquid has been absorbed, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. Remove the pot from the heat. Stir in heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese until well combined and creamy.
  6. Let the pasta sit for a few minutes to thicken slightly. Serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley, if desired.

Notes

  • You can use any short pasta shape for this recipe, such as elbow macaroni or cavatappi.
  • For extra vegetables, add diced bell peppers or shredded carrots along with the onion.
  • If the sauce becomes too thick, add a splash more beef broth or water until it reaches your desired consistency.
