Pan-seared pork chops with garlic butter are a quick and easy main dish. This recipe ensures juicy, flavorful pork chops every time. The simple garlic butter sauce elevates the dish with rich taste.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat pork chops dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Carefully place pork chops in the hot skillet. Sear for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and a crust forms.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low. Add butter and minced garlic to the skillet. If using, add dried thyme.
  5. As the butter melts, spoon the garlic butter mixture over the pork chops repeatedly for 1-2 minutes, ensuring they are well coated.
  6. Cook until the internal temperature of the pork chops reaches 145°F (63°C) with an instant-read thermometer.
  7. Remove pork chops from the skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, keeping the chops tender.
  8. Spoon remaining garlic butter sauce from the skillet over the rested pork chops. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure pork is cooked to a safe temperature without overcooking.
  • Resting the pork chops after cooking is crucial for juiciness.
  • Adjust garlic and herb amounts to your preference.
