Flaky, buttery pizza puff pastry tarts, a sophisticated appetizer perfect for entertaining or a delightful snack. These tarts offer a ‘grown-up’ twist on classic pizza, with a crisp crust and savory toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup mini pepperoni slices (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped bell peppers (any color, optional)
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the thawed puff pastry sheet onto the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Score a border about 1/2 inch from the edges of the pastry, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  4. Spread the pizza sauce evenly within the scored border.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  6. If using, scatter the mini pepperoni and chopped bell peppers over the cheese.
  7. Brush the scored edges of the pastry with the beaten egg wash.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing into squares or rectangles and serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, omit the pepperoni.
  • Customize your toppings with your favorite pizza ingredients like mushrooms, onions, or olives.
  • Ensure puff pastry is fully thawed before unrolling to prevent cracking.
  • The egg wash helps create a beautiful golden crust.
