Ingredients
Scale
1 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup pumpkin puree
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Instructions
Combine water and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
Add pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice to the saucepan. Whisk until well combined.
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld and the syrup to thicken slightly.
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Let the syrup cool completely.
Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove any pumpkin solids. This makes the syrup smooth.
Pour the strained syrup into a clean, airtight bottle or jar. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 weeks.
Notes
Adjust the amount of pumpkin pie spice to your taste.
For a thinner syrup, simmer for less time. For a thicker syrup, simmer for longer.
Try adding a pinch of black pepper or a slice of fresh ginger for a unique twist.
Use this syrup in coffee, tea, cocktails, or over pancakes and ice cream.
