Ingredients
Scale
1 box (3 oz) strawberry flavored gelatin
1 box (3 oz) orange flavored gelatin
1 box (3 oz) lemon flavored gelatin
1 box (3 oz) lime flavored gelatin
1 box (3 oz) grape flavored gelatin
4 cups boiling water, divided
4 cups cold water, divided
1 cup mixed fresh or frozen berries (for natural coloring, optional)
1 cup fresh orange juice (for natural coloring, optional)
1 cup fresh lemon juice (for natural coloring, optional)
1 cup fresh lime juice (for natural coloring, optional)
1 cup white grape juice (for natural coloring, optional)
Clear plastic cups
Instructions
Prepare your natural fruit colorings if using: Puree berries and strain for red/pink. Use orange juice for orange, lemon juice for yellow, lime juice for green, and white grape juice for purple.
In separate bowls, dissolve each flavor of gelatin in 2 cups of boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved.
Add 2 cups of cold water to each bowl of dissolved gelatin. If using natural colorings, stir in the corresponding fruit juice or puree.
Chill each gelatin mixture in the refrigerator until it is slightly thickened but not set. This will take about 30-60 minutes, depending on your refrigerator.
Pour the first layer of slightly thickened gelatin into your clear plastic cups. Chill until set, about 1-2 hours.
Repeat the pouring and chilling process for each subsequent layer, allowing each layer to set slightly before adding the next.
Continue layering until you have used all your desired colors.
Once all layers are set, you can add a final topping of whipped cream or a fresh fruit garnish if desired.
Serve chilled and enjoy your colorful creation!
Notes
Using natural fruit juices or purees will result in softer, more muted colors compared to artificial dyes.
Ensure each layer is slightly thickened before adding the next to prevent colors from bleeding together.
For faster setting, you can place the cups in the freezer for short intervals, but be careful not to freeze the gelatin solid.
