Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon salt, divided
1/2 teaspoon black pepper, divided
1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
1 large egg
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for topping
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
9 no-boil lasagna noodles
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain off any excess fat. Season the beef with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Stir in the marinara sauce.
In a medium bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, oregano, the remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper until combined.
Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
Arrange three no-boil lasagna noodles over the sauce, slightly overlapping them if needed to fit the pan width.
Spread half of the ricotta mixture evenly over the noodles.
Top the ricotta layer with one-third of the mozzarella cheese.
Spoon half of the remaining meat sauce over the mozzarella.
Repeat the layers: three noodles, the remaining ricotta mixture, another third of the mozzarella, and the remaining meat sauce.
Place the final three noodles on top. Sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese and a light dusting of extra Parmesan cheese.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and the cheese is melted and lightly browned. For extra crispy edges, you can bake for 5 minutes longer, watching closely.
Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before cutting and serving.
Notes
Using no-boil noodles simplifies this recipe greatly.
For maximum crispy edges, ensure the sauce and cheese touch the sides of the pan.
This recipe works well with ground turkey or Italian sausage instead of beef.
