  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening sauce)

Instructions

  1. Place the pork shoulder in your slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, onion powder, and black pepper.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the pork shoulder.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the pork is tender and easily shreds.
  5. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
  6. Drain off most of the liquid from the slow cooker, leaving about 1 cup of the sauce behind.
  7. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker with the reserved sauce. Stir to combine.
  8. If you prefer a thicker sauce, stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook on high for another 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
