12 ounces fresh or frozen cranberries
2 pounds fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
3 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Instructions
Combine cranberries, strawberries, sugar, and water in a large, heavy-bottomed pot.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the fruit softens and the mixture thickens.
Stir in cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Continue to cook for another 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice.
Ladle the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace.
Process in a boiling water canner for 10 minutes.
Remove jars and let cool completely on a wire rack. Check seals after 24 hours.
Notes
For a smoother jam, you can mash the fruit slightly with a potato masher during cooking.
This jam makes a wonderful gift for friends and family during the holiday season.
Store unopened jars in a cool, dark place for up to one year. Once opened, refrigerate and consume within 3 weeks.
