Make the sweet and savory glazed salmon served at Texas Roadhouse using this straightforward copycat recipe. This method focuses on achieving the signature moist interior and caramelized exterior.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (6 ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Brush both sides lightly with olive oil.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, and cayenne pepper until the sugar dissolves slightly. This is your glaze.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 375°F). Clean and lightly oil the grill grates.
  4. Place the salmon fillets on the hot grill, flesh-side down first. Grill for 4 minutes.
  5. Brush half of the glaze mixture evenly over the top of the salmon fillets.
  6. Flip the salmon carefully. Grill for another 3 to 5 minutes, depending on thickness, until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  7. Brush the remaining glaze over the salmon during the last minute of cooking.
  8. Remove from the grill and let rest for 2 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For an extra sweet crust, you can briefly place the cooked salmon under a broiler for 1 minute after grilling, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • If you prefer baking, cook at 400°F for 12-15 minutes, brushing with the glaze halfway through.
  • Serve this salmon with a baked sweet potato and steamed green beans for a complete meal similar to the restaurant presentation.
