  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, vegetable broth, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Reduce heat and let simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in fresh basil just before serving.
