Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (5 ounce) can tuna in water, drained
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • Optional garnish: fresh parsley or paprika

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, celery, red onion, and lemon juice.
  2. Mix well until everything is incorporated.
  3. Season the tuna salad with salt and pepper to your liking.
  4. Slice the avocados in half lengthwise and remove the pits.
  5. Spoon the tuna salad mixture evenly into the hollow of each avocado half.
  6. Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley or paprika, if desired.
  7. Serve immediately for the best freshness.

Notes

  • You can substitute Greek yogurt for some or all of the mayonnaise for a lighter filling.
  • If you prefer a less sharp taste, soak the chopped red onion in cold water for five minutes before adding it to the tuna.
  • This recipe is best eaten right after preparation to keep the avocado from browning.
