Make a creamy, simple whipped ricotta dip topped with toasted walnuts and a drizzle of spicy hot honey. This easy appetizer comes together quickly for parties or snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 15 ounces whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for drizzling
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons hot honey (or regular honey mixed with a pinch of red pepper flakes)

Instructions

  1. Place the ricotta cheese, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper into a food processor.
  2. Process the mixture for 1 to 2 minutes, scraping down the sides as needed, until the ricotta is completely smooth and light.
  3. While the ricotta processes, toast the walnuts in a small, dry skillet over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring often, until fragrant. Remove from heat immediately.
  4. Transfer the whipped ricotta to a shallow serving bowl.
  5. Top the dip evenly with the toasted walnuts.
  6. Drizzle the hot honey over the walnuts and ricotta.
  7. Drizzle a small amount of extra olive oil over the surface before serving.

Notes

  • Serve immediately with crusty bread, crostini, crackers, or fresh vegetable sticks.
  • For a savory variation, skip the honey and top with fresh chopped basil, sun-dried tomatoes, and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
  • If you do not have a food processor, use a high-powered blender or a hand mixer, whipping until smooth.
